Hello! My name is Olivia Gorans.
I’ve been a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (that means I can prescribe medication and order labs just like your medical doctor) for 10 years.
I’m an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Provider. That’s important because the Institute for Functional Medicine is the gold standard for training in functional medicine and there are fewer than 1,500 providers in the world who have completed the certification process.
I’m also certified in the Wahl’s Protocol which focuses on helping individuals put their autoimmune disease into remission.

Where did this all start for me?
I remember the day clearly. I had been travelling full time doing home visits for the elderly. I was staying at a cabin in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and had to sit out on a grassy rock where I had cell signal. I was listening as I knew my boss was close to firing me.
I was struggling to keep up with all the paperwork my brain fog was so severe that I couldn’t think. I’d been having sudden weight gain, heart racing, depression, anxiety, dizziness, and fatigue so severe that I would sit down in the evening and wake up the next morning, take my clothes off, shower, and start again. My prescriptions were close to 7 per day.
My boss didn’t care about that though. She told me that a colleague would be arriving shortly to shadow me in order to figure out what was wrong.
That colleague told me to go on disability. I had no idea I was that sick. Something suddenly shifted in my brain when she told me to go on disability. I knew that it just wasn’t an option for me.
I didn’t know where to start, all the medical tests and prescriptions were clearly not fixing things, so I decided to start with diet.
As I started to change my diet, I realized that I had multiple food sensitivities that would make my symptoms worse. I went to an allergist. He told me that mosquitoes and feathers were an issue but I could eat anything I wanted. I tried to tell him that my heart would start racing or I would have sudden swelling with certain foods. He wouldn’t listen.
As I continued to research, I stumbled into functional medicine. I was on my path.

I’ve now helped my mom and sister begin to reverse their symptoms of MS and my health continues to improve with all I’ve learned and implement. I’m so grateful to have my own health and that I get to walk beside others and see their health improve dramatically!
